Kelley Park

A 156-acre city park on Coyote Creek that holds Happy Hollow Park & Zoo, the Japanese Friendship Garden and History Park.

Kelley Park was once the farm of Louise Archer Kelley, inherited from her father, Judge Lawrence Archer, a pioneer and two-time mayor of San Jose. Archer bought the land in 1861 and planted it with cherry, apricot and prune trees; pillars marked AR-KEL still stand on the pepper-tree drive off Senter Road.

Coyote Creek winds through the park. Inside it are Happy Hollow Park & Zoo, a children’s zoo and amusement park first opened in 1961, the Japanese Friendship Garden, and History Park with the Portuguese Historical Museum and the Viet Museum. There is also a disc golf course in the walnut orchard behind History Park.
